More Christian Music Artists Pay their Tributes to the Late Mandisa
The music community is mourning the loss of beloved artist, Mandisa. The GMA Dove Award and GRAMMY® Award-winning artist passed away Thursday, April 18th, 2024 in her home in Nashville. She was 47. The cause of death is not yet known.
Her social media account confirms: "We can confirm that yesterday Mandisa was found in her home deceased. At this time we do not know the cause of death or any further details. We ask for your prayers for her family and close knit circle of friends during this incredibly difficult time.
"Mandisa was a voice of encouragement and truth to people facing life's challenges all around the world. She wrote this song for a dear friend who had passed in 2017."
TobyMac:
We lost a beautiful soul...
I have never met an artist who is more encouraging and supportive to other artists than Mandisa. She was honest and authentic but I always left her side feeling better. She watched every act, every night on every tour singing along with a smile that made you feel alive. From "Lose My Soul" to "Bleed the Same" to "Good Mornin'" I was honored not only to collaborate with her but to call her friend.
She was honest about her struggles and viewed her break throughs as an opportunity to let others know that they can experience victories just like her. She saw us as a family. God's family. In all our diversity. All flawed. And all in need of the love of a Good Father, a Heavenly Father. I know her battle is over but I will always treasure her memory and that smile and infectious laugh that I had the pleasure of experiencing so often.
Colton Dixon:
Mandisa is the sweetest, kindest soul that @anniedixon__ and I have met on the road. After hearing she went to be with Jesus last night I was reflecting this morning on the times we had together.
Remembering we shared a bus on @tobymac hits deep tour, where I would sing her song "Good Morning" to her every single morning. Or the time I wore a shirt with her face on it to sing with her on stage.
But what I remember most was her kindness and ministering spirit into both Annie and I. She sent me this voice memo a few years back and it seemed right to share. @mandisaofficial you will be missed, but I know it's only for a short while, cuz it's see you again not goodbye.
We Are Messengers:
@mandisaofficial is one of the most kind, caring, funny, encouraging and gentle people I have known. I didn't believe the news was true when I heard it this morning. Thank you for caring about me, for smiling at me that day on the airplane on the way to a radio summit and for your beautiful pursuit of Jesus. Rest well friend.
Rita Springer:
Sometimes as much as I love words, there are none to find. Grief can shut them up inside a soul and turn them into moaning. What I know about God most is that he carries those moans like melodies and calls it worship. I loved Mandisa. Her passion and joy for Jesus was evident in all she put her whole heart into. Our conversations were deep and costly. When she believed in you she said it out loud and boldly!
The loss of her is traumatic and quite devastating today. This song she released a couple years ago was one I wrote that she heard and had to sing. It was a message she said was "healing to her soul." She wanted me to sing it with her and it was such an honor to do that! I know today her joy is complete and her great reward is seen. Thank you, Mandisa for seeing the ones you saw with such depth and recognition. You will be so incredibly missed here. Until that day girl, sing louder than you ever have.
Laura Story:
It's hard to put in to words the impact Mandisa has had on the Christian Music industry as well as her paving the way for so many female artists. On a more personal level, she was a true worshipper who sang through her pain and struggle, and an inspiration to us all. We sure will miss you, friend.
Erica Campbell:
Woke up to this news today. Mandisa has passed away in her home. I don't have the details. But I do know She was so very sweet and so talented and consistently kind. And she really loved Jesus. Rest well #Mandisa
Jonathan Traylor:
This one hurts real bad, my heart is broken. Mandisa was a beautiful soul. Her smile could light up a whole room. She was a pioneer in this industry. She made a huge impact in this CCM space, and in the world. I love you Mandisa, you will missed.
Krissy Nordhoff:
I remember going through a tough season with our family. "Overcomer" was one of our songs through that season. It was also during that time that I wrote a song called "Back To Life" with @njgalbraith and @michaelfarren.
The bridge says.....
Resentment, depression, and all anxiety They have no power over me Addiction, strongholds, and every disease They have no power over me....... Cause I'm coming back to life.
Sometimes God uses songs to mark seasons in your life. He certainly did that for our family with this one. It seemed so redemptive to have Mandisa sing it. She gave us a song, and then we got to give her one. It means something different today. She truly is alive, fully back to life. Praying for her family and friends today. Thankful for her heart and legacy.
Travis Greene:
Mandisa lit up every room we were ever in together. Such a beautiful soul. Such a joy. I was just in a Nashville studio last week & saw one of her trophies there. Life is so short. Mandisa will be deeply missed by everyone she has impacted, both near & far.
