'Into The Woods' Latest News and Meryl Streep Update: Meryl Streep Stars in the Latest Disney Movie 'Into The Woods'
Disney has done it again. It has succeeded in making the film adaptation of the Broadway musical Into the Woods. The film will be directed by Rob Marshall. Marshall is known for directing the hit musical Chicago. Meryl Streep leads the ensemble cast including other Hollywood A-listers like Johnny Depp, Emily Blunt, Anna Kendrick, and Chris Pine.
In the latest Into the Woods poster, Meryl Streep who plays the role of "The Witch" looks really old and creepy. What a transformation! The poster bears the tag line "Be Careful What You Wish For."
The trailer of the movie showed other familiar characters - Rapunzel and Little Red Riding Hood. There are also some scenes in the trailer that shows a giant beanstalk.
Meryl's Streep character in the movie Into the Woods places a curse on a couple that they will never bear children. The witch cursed the man because he was caught stealing beans from her garden. The curse can be reversed, if the couple, can find four major ingredients: the cow as white as milk, the cape as red as blood, the hair as yellow as corn, and the slipper as pure as gold.
Fans of the musical Into the Woods were over the moon after the announcement was made that a movie adaptation is in the making. However, they were disappointed when it was rumored that the movie version of Into the Woods will cut some of the "adult scene" in the film. The creator of the film Stephen Sondheim and Marshall said they will try to remain true to the original tale. But Marshall added that there will be small changes in the film that are necessary for the production.
Into the Woods spoilers revealed that Rapunzel does not get killed because as Disney said, "we don't want Rapunzel to die, so we replotted it," and "the prince did not sleep with the baker's wife."
