Dracula Untold Reviews, Plot and Updates: Luke Evans Plays Unlikely Hero as Dracula/ Vlad the Impaler in Movie
Last time I checked vampire movies that featured Dracula in the pot were supposed to portray is as something akin to the devil if not worse. Dracula is supposed to be a force of evil so devious, that he strikes fear into everything. This is a being that is borne from hell. At least, this is usually the plot with every movie that we see like Van Helsing, or Priest. The movie Dracula Untold is different in every aspect here. It begins with a monologue saying, "Sometimes the world doesn't need a hero, It needs a monster." This puts us in the perspective that would ready us to accept the bad guy as the unlikely hero and that is what Dracula Untold is all about. Instead of Dracula being portrayed as a blood sucking beast, he is a protective father that will do anything to safeguard his land and people from his enemies even if it means making a deal with the devil himself.
The plot of the movie follows the Count who is raised by his enemies, the Turks to be a great warrior, but he is not able to fight off a great invasion at the gates of his land Transylvania. With his people facing annihilation, he travels to distant mountains and finds a bloodsucking cave dweller that very well may be the all father of the monsters. He drinks from his blood and is reincarnated as Dracula, the father of the vampires. He gains incredible abilities mightier than other monsters. He can command large swarms of bats into instruments to his bidding, being able to use thousands into a sword or fist. The effect is devastating and quite breathtaking on a graphics perspective. He is also able to cover long distances turning himself into a flock of bats. Apparently, this state he acquires makes himself hated or rather feared by both his people and the enemy who suspect that he has turned into the devil himself. There are rules to this however, as Dracula is supposed to keep this state of supernatural power for a period of 72 hours and not drink any blood lest he become lost to his state for eternity and makes for a Dracula origin story.
